Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education
Curriculum Subject Lead - Mr R Eyles
PSHE is an important and necessary part of all pupils’ education. Through a planned programme of learning, we aim to provide our pupils with the knowledge, understanding and skills that they need to lead confident, healthy independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible citizens.
In delivering PSHE at Mount Pleasant, we also aim to:
- Promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of every child
- Prepare children for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life.
- Develop children’s confidence and responsibility making the most of their abilities;
- Prepare children to play an active role as citizens;
- Enable children to develop a healthy, safer lifestyle;
- Enable children to develop good relationships and respect the differences between people.
Safeguarding is at the heart of what we do, so this plays an important part in our curriculum development. We aim to ensure children understand and aware of potentials dangers and know what to do if they need help.
The outcome of our successful curriculum should be that pupils can explain accurately and confidently how to keep themselves healthy. They make informed choices about healthy eating, fitness and their emotional and mental well-being. They have an age-appropriate understanding of healthy relationships and are confident in staying safe from abuse neglect and exploitation.
