National Year of Reading 2026

Our launch day for the National Year of Reading was a wonderful celebration of books and a shared love of reading. The children brought in a book to donate for our upcoming book swap and proudly shared their favourite book from home with their classmates. The day was filled with stories, thoughtful discussion, and genuine enthusiasm, highlighting both the importance of quality reading experiences and the sheer joy that books can bring.

 At Mount Pleasant, we believe it is vital that every child sees themselves as a reader. Giving children choice in what they read helps build confidence, ownership, and a lifelong love of books. When children are free to explore texts that interest and excite them, reading becomes meaningful and enjoyable.
