Church and Chapel
Mount Pleasant Methodist Chapel
Mount Pleasant has established very close links with both our local church (Christ Church) and chapel (Wesley Chapel).
Our link with Mount Pleasant Methodist Chapel goes back over 130 years, as the school first began in the school room at the back of the chapel in 1882.
In the last few years we have worked hard together to bring a sense of community and belonging back to our local area. This has included our children visiting the chapel regularly to develop their knowledge in RE; Year 1 and 2 Christmas productions; KS2 carol concerts; Year 6 Remembrance assemblies; Chat in the Chapel with choir and class performances and invited guests such as our wonderful grandparents; new parents coffee mornings and projects to enhance their learning in more creative areas.
We have worked together even more closely since 2022 to try to renew community links and relationships and to make Mount Pleasant Chapel and Primary School an exciting community hub. Unfortunately, due to the great age of the building and the need for extensive investment to enable it to be repaired and restored to it's former glory, we are devastated that the chapel had to close it's doors for the last time on Sunday 22nd December, 2024.
We are eternally grateful for the support and love of the members of the chapel, who have ensured that we could use their beautiful space as often as possible.
So to Margaret, Alma, Martyn, Arthur and Claire - thank you. You will forever be a part of our school community and in our hearts and we will miss you all and your beautiful chapel so very much.
Christ Church, Quarry Bank
We have a close link with Christ Church, Quarry Bank.
The school is well supported with regular assemblies and visits from Canon David Hoskins.
Through the church, the Quarry Bank Educational Trust supports us with funding for resources and visits.
